Introduction

Haringey’s Olympic Art Collection
Oooooh Art aims to capture all the energy, excitement and sentiment of the Olympics through Contemporary arts and culture.
During the Cultural Olympiad (the four year festival leading up to 2012) 11 Haringey artists/organisations were selected to create Haringey’s unique Olympic 2012 art collection - Oooooh Art.
Each Oooooh Art…ist has been selected to represent a specific discipline:

photography – Roelof Bakker
painting – Nicola Green
etching – Mark Oliver
collage – Kiki Machado
mixed media – Jennie Pedley
textile – Melo
ceramic – Jacqui Chanarin
digital art – Call & Response
illustration – James Townend
poetry – Paul Lyalls
knitting – Sara Noble
Each artist will produce two pieces of work - one will be their own work, and the second will be a collaborative piece with a group of school children.

The Oooooh Art collection will be curated into a final exhibition where artists’ work will be displayed alongside work made by local school children. Oooooh Art will go on display at sites across Haringey during the 2012 Olympic Games. Once the games are over, the collection will then move to Haringey’s archive (at Bruce Castle Museum) which can be used by schools, museums and libraries… forever!
